The OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe and the CEFTA 2006 Secretariat, with the financial support of the European Union, are organising a one and a half day workshop on Regional Trade Liberalisation, European Integration and Investment Flows in CEFTA 2006 in Tirana, Albania. Subject to final confirmation, the workshop will be held on 19-20 June 2012 in advance of the CEFTA Deputy Ministers Meeting.
The workshop is part of the OECD Investment Compact’s support activities to the CEFTA 2006 Agreement and will bring together academics, researchers and policy-makers who are regionally engaged on topics that fall under the general scope of CEFTA 2006 – trade, investment and competitiveness.
The first day of the workshop will consist of individual 30-minute presentations of economic research followed by discussion. The morning of the second day will be dedicated to panel discussions, engaging representatives from CEFTA 2006 Parties, international organisations and research institutions.
OECD IC & CEFTA invite abstracts (max. one page) of current research projects and papers, working papers or recently published articles on one of the following topics:
· Supply/Value Chains
· Trade Integration
· Foreign Direct Investment (flows, choice of location, coordination of policies)
· Sector Competitiveness
· Trade and Macroeconomics
The research should cover the South East Europe region or one or preferably more CEFTA 2006 Parties (Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Republic of Serbia and UNMIK/Kosovo). Work on other countries with strong implications for CEFTA 2006 would also be considered.
Subject to certain eligibility criteria, the OECD Investment Compact will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the presenters.
